1 Basis of preparation
The interim accounts are not statutory accounts but are prepared on the basis of the accounting policies set out in the Group’s
financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2003, consistently applied in all material respects.
The figures for the year ended 31 March 2003 have been extracted from the statutory accounts, which have been filed with
the Registrar of Companies. The auditors’ report on those accounts was unqualified and did not contain any statement under
section 237 (2) or (3) of the Companies Act 1985.
